Idaho russet potatoes

Great vodka starts with exceptional ingredients. That's why we use premium Idaho russet potatoes—the ideal foundation for a sweet, smooth, and clean-tasting vodka.

Most vodka begins with a highly refined neutral spirit, often produced from grain and distilled to approximately 96% ABV before being brought down to bottling strength. Hard Cut starts somewhere very different: with high-starch, Idaho-grown Russet potatoes.

Idaho has been a place Dolph Lundgren has returned to for years - a place to escape, recharge, and experience the mountains away from the spotlight. When it came time to create his own vodka, that connection helped lead him back to Idaho, where he found the ingredients and distilling expertise to bring Hard Cut to life.

We distill those potatoes from the ground up, carefully shaping the spirit from the raw ingredient to the finished vodka. It is a harder, more involved way to make vodka, but it gives us something a highly neutral spirit alone can't provide: subtle character and texture from the raw material itself. Hard Cut is exceptionally clean, but beneath that purity is a richer, creamier mouthfeel, gentle sweetness, subtle nuttiness and a smooth, lingering finish.

Potatoes are also a more demanding and costly raw material than the grain-based neutral spirits commonly used in large-scale vodka production. But we didn't choose the easy route. We chose Idaho Russets because they give us the foundation for the kind of vodka we wanted to make: 90 proof, full of character, and smooth enough to enjoy on its own.
